Young Chefs Academy
By Charlana Albios
Preschoolers love to cook and play and the KinderCooks classes at the Young Chefs Academy (YCA) allow them to do exactly that. While wearing an adorable apron and using preschooler-friendly kitchen tools, your little chef will get to cook yummy dishes, play games, and hear stories which are all centered around a theme. The KinderCooks classes are both fun and educational.

From the moment your preschooler puts on their apron, they will feel like a chef. They get to chop, scoop, measure, mix, and pour along with fellow chefs their age. The instructor, along with an assistant, is conscious about involving each preschooler in the class. With a combination of cooking, games and stories, each class if chock-full of activity.
What Parents Will Love About YCA
Preschoolers get very excited about cooking and, because they often enjoy eating the food that they make, might be more willing to try a dish that they would normally turn their nose up at. When they see fellow classmates enjoying the scrumptious dishes that they have just prepared, that helps to influence them as well.
The kitchen is an open space so parents are able to sit and observe the class if they choose. YCA does allow you to drop your preschooler off, but it’s probably best to observe the first class to see how your child handles it and to see how the class is run. Plus, the preschoolers are amusing to watch, the instructor is amazingly energetic (and patient), and the class is so much fun that you won’t want to miss it.
Other Things You Should Know
If you want to see what the classes are all about prior to signing up for a membership, ask if there is a “Try It” class available. For just $10, your preschooler can attend a KinderCooks class before you commit to a monthly or Chef’s Club Membership.
In addition to a regular class schedule, there are special events, workshops and mini-camps.
All-inclusive birthday party packages are available.
