Water Resources Education Center

By Charlana Albios

Interactive exhibits and a play area with loads of toys make the Water Resources Education Center a favorite among preschoolers. This is an enjoyable and educational opportunity for both preschoolers and their parents.

What Preschoolers Will Love About the Water Resources Education Center

Photo (c) City of VancouverThe hands-on exhibits that fill the building keep preschoolers engaged throughout each and every visit. After bouncing from exhibit to exhibit, they will make their way to Puddles Place, the area where they can play with a multitude of toys. Your preschooler will have access to puzzles, games, puppets, and a magnet table, in addition to a small play structure and numerous books. There is also a computer room with several stations and fun games that are labeled by age.

What Parents Will Love About the Water Resources Education Center

No matter what the weather, this is a great place to take your preschooler because the Water Resources Center has a variety of things to do indoors and outdoors. The front of the building features a water fountain that preschoolers can’t resist sticking their hands in. If the weather permits, go for a walk through the natural Backyard Wildlife Garden then head across the street to view the wetlands. Listen for birds and challenge your preschooler to see how many they can spot while you enjoy viewing them in their natural habitat.

The spacious, wide-open exhibit hall gives preschoolers the opportunity to run and touch everything. They think they are just playing, but you know that they are learning about the environment, natural resources, fish and wildlife. You will, without a doubt, walk away learning a few things too.

Other Things You Should Know

The facility is clean and inviting. It is not usually busy unless there is a group visit or a special event being held. If you are trying to avoid a crowd, call ahead.

WinterFaire features arts and crafts from local artists and is held the weekend before Thanksgiving. Enjoy live music and refreshments while viewing the work of local artisans and doing some holiday shopping.
