Introduce your preschooler to the world of soccer through the Lil’ Kickers program at the Salmon Creek Indoor Sports Arena (SCISA). The "Hoppers" beginner class for 3- and 4-year olds focuses on balance, coordination and teamwork. The "Jackrabbits" intermediate class focuses more on ball skills and learning to play the game. If you’re not familiar with the sport, don’t worry because neither you nor your preschooler has to know anything about soccer to participate in these classes.

What Preschoolers Will Love About SCISA

Class sizes are small so preschoolers that need a little extra attention or are intimidated by large crowds will not feel overwhelmed. Since the coaches teach through a variety of games, preschoolers think they are just playing and have no idea the valuable skills that they are really learning. In addition to balance, coordination and ball skills, they are working on things like their listening skills, cooperation and team work.

What Parents Will Love About SCISA

Classes are held at various times throughout the week, including weekends, so it’s fairly easy to find one that fits your schedule. Luckily, they realize that things don’t always go according to plan with preschoolers, so they are usually flexible if you can’t get to class and want to make it up on another day. Be sure to call ahead if you can.

When the weather is not conducive to outdoor activities, these classes are a great outlet for preschoolers to run and play.

Other Things You Should Know

Parents do not participate with their preschooler at this level, but you must remain at the facility. There is sufficient bench seating where you are able to sit and watch the class.

Because preschoolers and parents of preschools can sometimes be unpredictable (i.e. due to illness, tantrums, work, etc.) you might find that a class that has seven enrolled only has one or two that show up on any given day. Depending on your child, this can be a good thing or a bad thing.

At the end of each session coaches hand out treats, which is usually a lollipop. Let the coach know ahead of time if you would rather your preschooler not be given one.
